habe ich eine "neue" Seite entdeckt, die sich intensiv mit Etymologie beschäftigt: Word Histories (wordhistories.net) von Pascal Tréguer (englisch mit gelegentlichen französischen Randbemerkungen). Dazu gibt es wieder Links zu Familiennamen, französischen Neologismen, englischen Wortgeschichten, und einige Links zu bestimmten Themen, wie etwa zu den "Nahuatl Studies". Als Wortgeschichte gefällt mir diesen Monat besonders engl. "curfew" = dt. "Ausgehverbot", "Ausgangssperre", "Zapfenstreich", das auf die mittelalterliche Anordnung frz. "couvre feu" = "das Feuer (mit Asche) bedecken" zurück geht. Und "cur" findet man auch in engl. "kerchief" und "handkerchief".
